Keralite selected for leader meet

The competition was being organised from August 4 to 6 at the United Nations Conference Centre at Rajdamnern Nok Avenue, Bangkok.

Thiruvananthapuram: A 19-year-old Malayali student Gautham Varada Narayanan of Tata Institute of Social Science (TISS) in Hyderabad has got selected as a delegate to the Future Leader Congress supported by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (Unescap).

The competition was being organised from August 4 to 6 at the United Nations Conference Centre at Rajdamnern Nok Avenue, Bangkok.

His selection was based on motivation letter and a short essay on development 4.0 challenges.

Mr Narayanan said he did his schooling till 10th standard in the Millennium School, Dubai, and eleventh and twelfth in Christ Junior College, Bangalore.

The Karunagappally, Kollam, native now pursuing his BA Social Sciences at TISS is the class representative from 2018 to 2021.

His father, N. S. Jyothikumar is a writer and a cultural activist while mother, Sindhu Nair, is an entrepreneur in UAE.

He has been a former student member of Tony Blair Face2Faith Foundation, a delegate at Telangana Jagruthi International Youth Leadership Conference 2019 and volunteer for TISS Kerala flood relief work, 2018.

Other honours that came to him included Kerala Government Merit Award, 2019, finalist of the World Scholars Cup, 2016, honourable delegate award at Harvard Model United Nations, Hyderabad (2017) and student speaker at National Students Parliament, Kerala, (2019).

He has also acted as "environmental perfect" of The Millennium School, Dubai, for the 2014 and Student Council Member for 2015.

He has participated in seven Model UN parliaments as a member of the Christ Junior College team from 2016 to 2018.
