Primary students to get 10 days extra leave

The department has released the annual planner for all schools recently.

Chennai: The department of school education has reduced instructional days for primary and upper primary students from 220 days to 210 days, which means that the students will get 10 days extra leave from this academic year.

The department has released the annual planner for all schools recently. As per the planner, the last working days for the schools is April 19. The additional 10 days starting from April 20 were allotted to training for the primary and middle school teachers and headmaster The planner also allotted 11 days in the month of May for the enrollment campaign in government schools.

“The working days for high and higher secondary schools are just 200 days. But, for the primary and middle school students it was 220. We have demanded the government to reduce the working days to 200 like other classes. But we are happy with the reduction of 10 working das,” said R Doss, general secretary, Thamizhaga Arambapalli Asiriyar Kootani. It also listed out the exam dates for the all the classes from 1 to 12. The first term exam for classes 6 to 9 and quarterly exams for classes 10, 11 and 12 will begin on September 11. After the exams, the holidays will begin on September 24. Like that the second term exam and half-yearly exams will begin on December 11. It concludes on December 23.

The department of school education has already released the board exam schedule for classes 10, 11 and 12. As per the schedule, the exams for class 12 will start on March 1 and for class 11 on March 7. The class 10 board exam will start from March 16.
