Telangana: Anees ul Gurbha orphanage to get a new wing
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Sunday said the state government was according utmost importance to providing free quality education for Muslims by setting up over 200 residential schools, and urged the community to make the best use of them.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the Rs 20 crore Anees-ul-Gurbha orphanage complex at Nampally here, being built on a 4,000-sq.yard plot of land.
Locals gave a rousing reception to Mr Rao and thanked him for the complex being built with modern amenities.
Mr Rao said the government had established 204 residential schools for socially and economically backward Muslims. He said the new complex at the Anees-ul-Gurbha would be constructed to international standards.
Since 1921, Anees-Ul-Gurbha has been providing shelter to 60 persons. It lost about 191 square yards of land to road-widening. To compensate, the government allotted a 4,000-sq yd parcel of land adjacent to the building and sanctioned Rs 20 crore to build the new complex.
Designs have been prepared for a seven-storey building with a plinth area of about 1.53 lakh sq ft. The first two floors will be used as a commercial complex and the other five as a shelter to orphans.
In addition to making a provision to shelter 500 persons, a school will constructed as part of this complex. Those who join here can continue to stay till they are settled in life.
Deputy CM Mahmood Ali, MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi, MLAs Jaffer Hussain, Ahmed bin Abdullah Balala, Pasha Quadri, Moujam Khan, MLCs P. Rajeswara Reddy, Md Saleem, Karne Prabhakar, government adviser A.K. Khan and others participated.
