Hyderabad: An alert RTC driver is being hailed as a hero for averting a major bank robbery in the city. Thomasaiah, who was getting ready for work on Friday morning, noticed that the lights at an Andhra Bank branch were on. His curiosity alerted the suspects inside the bank and Thomasaiah raised the alarm. With the help of Petbasheerabad police he even chased one of the suspects and handed him over to the authorities.
Two persons were arrested. They have been identified as T.Swamy and S. Naveen, both natives of Nizamabad district. According to cops, Thomasaiah, stood guard with security staff as they waited for the police to arrive. Cops say the suspects had targeted the cash inside the bank but were unable to breach the locker. They had even disconnected the CCTV system. Both suspects are now in custody.
