Congress protests roads plan

The Strategic Road Development Programme would spell doom for the KBR Park.

Hyderabad: TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy accused the state government of adopting an unscientific approach that would severely harm the green cover in the city leading to an environmental disaster. He said the Strategic Road Development Programme would spell doom for the KBR Park.

The Congress stepped up its attack on the TRS government on Saturday with a scathing criticism of the SRDP and lodging a protest against the rise in prices of vegetables and other commodities. The protest was led by former minister Sabita Indra Reddy and others.

Mr Marri Shashidhar Reddy gave a power point presentation on the impact of the SRDP project and warned the state government of widespread protests against it. “If this project materialises, it will be very dangerous for surrounding colonies. In case of rains, it will lead to inundation of the area. There will be no space left for water to flow,” he said. He alleged that TRS government wanted to grab the precious land of KBR Park in the name of development.
