Sachivalayam system cited as role model for country

Visakhapatnam: The Sachivalayam system introduced by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy stands as a role model for the entire country, claimed revenue minister Dharmana Prasada Rao in Srikakulam on Friday. He was presenting the Vajra, Ratna and Mitra awards to volunteers at a function.

The minister said the volunteers played a key role in distribution of welfare schemes and functioned as brand ambassadors for the government.

“It is a pleasure to give awards to the volunteers contributing their might in implementing the YSRC government’s schemes to the benefit of the disadvantaged classes,’’ the minister said.

Srikakulam collector Srikesh Lathkar it was a difficult task in the past to identify the genuine beneficiaries in the villages and wards. But, after the volunteer system was introduced, things got easy for the district administration in this respect.

He said instructions on implementation of welfare schemes through the volunteers were being conveyed to the MPDOs and municipal commissioners on a regular basis via video conference.

Srikakulam district, 11,216 volunteers were given Seva Mitra awards, 174 Seva Ratna and 40 volunteers Seva Vajra. In all, 11,430 volunteers selected by a district-level committee were given the awards.
