Kochi: EB’s Santhivanam work in final stage

Moreover, the protest programmes will be expanded to create awareness among the public on such green causes, said Ms. Menon.

Kochi: Amidst protest, the KSEBL is completing the transmission line work for the 110 KV power project through Santhivanam, the two-acre area with forest and groves at Vazhikulangara near North Paravur. Part of the line has been erected while Meena Menon, the land owner, has made it clear that she will go ahead with the legal battle against the board.

“The reports that I have withdrawn the plea submitted against the KSEBL in the High Court are baseless. As per the HC instruction, I have withdrawn the writ petition and submitted a writ appeal. We will not end the legal battle until justice is done. Moreover, the protest programmes will be expanded to create awareness among the public on such green causes,” said Ms. Menon.

There are allegations that the board has completed the tower construction and started erecting the transmission line in haste without even giving enough curing time for the concrete foundation. “We are concerned of the safety of the tower and the transmission line as the works were done hurriedly.

The board wanted to apprise the HC that works have been completed,” added the land owner.
