Bengaluru: Will the major infrastructure works in the city affected with the change in government? Yes say the residents. On one hand the officials take advantage of the vacuum, the contractors are worried that they would have to now grease the palms of officials in the new government.
A contractor on condition of anonymity said that getting the mega infrastructure works like signal free corridors and elevated corridors would be difficult as the contractor community would have to spend more from their pocket. In most cases, the new government would reshuffle officials and it would not be a smooth sailing for contractors, a contractor alleged.
Most infrastructure projects would be put on backburner during this period of political vacuum and change of government. Common man will be put to a great distress during this period and until the new government takes over and settles down, said Nitin Seshadri, Secretary of Koramanagala 3rd block Residents Welfare Association (RWA) president.
The people should relentlessly exert pressure on the government and authorities at civic body level for speedy implementation of projects. “We had thought that until the elections the progress will be at snail’s pace, but now we will have to wait longer till the formation of government,” he said.
The governments should clearly layout its position on the ongoing projects and priorities of such projects, Sridhar Pabbisetty, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF).
