No toilet, Secunderabad Railway station misses rank
Hyderabad: The non-availability of paid-toilet at Platform 10 has cost the Secunderabad Railway station dearly. This flaw has come in the way of the station getting Number-1 rank in a nation-wide Swachh Railway survey. Also, the feedback of passengers and visual effect during the visit of the third-party audit agency led to the station getting one per cent less marks compared to the Vizag station.
The railway ministry took up the survey covering 75 A-1 stations and 332 stations of A-category. While the Vizag station secured 85 per cent marks for overall cleanliness, the Secunderabad Railway st-ation got 84 per cent. Com-pared with the previous year’s scores, both the stations have improved Swac-hh measurements in 2017.
Although, Secunderabad station got a good score in infrastructure aspects, compared with Vizag, the lack of a public toilet led to the lesser score. It wou-ld have two per cent more scores if there was a toilet at Platform 10 and would have been in top-1 position across the country.
Chief Public Relations Officer of SCR, M. Umashankar Kumar, said the Secunderabad station was having good infrastructure. “Unfortunately, we got a lesser score in Citizen Feedback and Direct Observation. We got good score in Process Audit, with 289.9 marks, while Vizag got 245.9. In the remaining two aspects, we got lesser scores than Vizag. However, we’ll improve the Swachh Rail measurements,” he said.
