AIADMK trying to divert public anger against BJP: MK Stalin

The ministers are unable to do anything on key issues like Cauvery Management Board, he charged.

CHENNAI: The visit of AIADMK ministers to Delhi and their claims that they had received central funds gives an impression that they are working hard to divert the anger of Tamil Nadu people against the BJP government at the centre, Leader of Opposition M.K. Stalin alleged on Thursday.

The ministers are unable to do anything on key issues like Cauvery Management Board, farmers loan waiver, hydro carbon project, attack by Sri Lankan navy on Tamil fishermen and NEET, he charged.

Ministers are going to Delhi and giving interviews to the media that they had met the Union Ministers and obtained funds for the state. Besides, Union Minister himself had reviewed the works of the state government at the Secretariat, the DMK leader said.

The state Public Works Department had not met the Union Water Resources Minister to set up the Cauvery Management Board and state minister for Adi Dravida Welfare had not visited Delhi to get the funds for SC/ST students, he said. Besides, neither the Higher Education minister nor the health minister had gone to Delhi to get President's nod for exemption to NEET examination.

The arrears of central funds for SC/ST welfare had gone up to Rs. 2,500, Stalin said and urged the state Adi Dravida welfare minister to go to Delhi and get the funds.

He also said another scheme to deposit Rs. 3,000 in the account of SC/ST students was not implemented by the state government despite the centre sanctioning Rs. 36 crores for it. Lack of funds should not be a constraint to the progress of the oppressed communities, he said and appealed to the state government to deposit Rs. 3,000 in the account of SC/ST students studying eighth and ninth standard.
