Women employees visit temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi

Staff raise doubts about their children's education in the new capital region.

Amaravati: The state government increased efforts to prepare the government employees to shift them to the temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi.

Nearly 130 women government employees working in the Secretariat at Hyderabad visited the temporary Secretariat at Velagapudi on Wednesday to know about the arrangements. The Secretariat employees are worried over the absence of basic amenities and high rents but the officials are assuring to provide them by June 15.

Nearly 100 women employees working in the Secretariat at Hyderabad came to Velagapudi in two Amaravati Scania buses. The villagers of Velagapudi gave a grand welcome to the women employees. They were led by AP Secretariat Women Employees Welfare Association president N. Satyasulochana and interacted with CRDA officials at Velagapudi after viewing the under-construction Secretariat buildings.

Ms Satyasulochana pointed out about the absence of basic amenities, including roads and drainages at the temporary Secretariat complex. Women employees G. Chennama, D. Prasanthi, V. Sailatha and others complained about huge rents. They lamented that the house rents are equal to Hyderabad rents despite absence of the Hyderabad like facilities.

They enquired about the availability of CBSE School in the Amaravati capital region, Mangalagiri, Vijayawada and Guntur. They asked about availability of seats for the admissions of their children in the schools and colleges.

The women employees asked about the possibility of double house rent allowance in view of high rents in the Amaravati capital region. Guntur collector and CRDA additional commissioner Ch. Sridhar assured that all basic amenities, including security would be available at the temporary Secretariat complex. He said that the Krishna and Guntur districts administration taking measures to provide seats in the schools and colleges to the children of the Secretariat employees.

CRDA special deputy collector B.L. Chennakesavulu explained about the blocks of the temporary Secretariat and department-wise allocation of floors. He cleared various doubts. The satisfied women employees said that they are ready to shift to temporary Secretariat and sought all basic amenities without fail before June 27.
