Topsy turvy climate can be a pain

The sudden change in weather is having an effect on people.

Hyderabad: The city’s weather is becoming more unpredictable for the day. The day begins hot, becomes humid midday, breezy towards the evening followed by sudden rains at night.

About the multi-weather patterns witnessed on a single day, the met department says that the ground receives more heat due to the summer, the humidity is due to increased moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the rain too is due to a depression in the same area. The wind is from a southerly direction moving at 20-35 km per hour in Telangana.

“The change in weather pattern entirely depends on wind movement and clouds. A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal has led to this change in weather pattern in the city. Moderate rain or thunderstorm is forecast for Hyderabad for the next two-three days,” said assistant meteorologist M. Narsimha Rao.

The sudden change in weather is having an effect on people. General physician Dr Hari Kishen said, “We are seeing an increase in patients with cold, cough and headaches, especially among those who are allergic to sudden change in weather conditions.

But restlessness is entirely due to the humidity. When one sweats, water evaporates and the body cools down. When it is humid the sweat does not evaporate and the body does not cool down, this leads to heat cramps and strokes.”

Also factors such as change in temperature, humidity and change in barometric pressures also trigger headaches as weather changes cause biological changes in the body's chemical balance. “Changes in temperature not only trigger headaches but also increase their severity,” added the doctor.
