AP government to start functioning from Vizag from September: CM Jagan

VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday said that he would start governance from Visakhapatnam, from September this year. The chief minister made the important announcement during his visit to Srikakulam.

As part of the decentralisation of administration, the government functioning will be from Visakhapatnam from September. Jagan added that he will stay in Visakhapatnam from September.

"Today, four developmental projects have been initiated. Foundation stone was laid for the construction of Moolapet Greenfield port and construction of the colony for the port evacuees at Naupada. The Hira Mandal Vamsadhara Lift Irrigation projects including Budagatlapalem fishing harbor in Etcherla Mandal were also initiated. These projects will change the face of Srikakulam," Jagan said.

"Previous rulers neglected Srikakulam district. Now, Moolapeta stands as the pillar of development. In the future, Moolpet and Vishnu Chakra will become another Mumbai and Chennai."

"Moolapet Port will be completed in 24 months at an estimated cost of Rs. 4,362 crores. The port will provide employment opportunities to 35,000 people, both directly and indirectly. The construction of fishing harbours will prevent Gangaputras from migrating to other areas for livelihood. Construction of fishing harbour at Budagatlapalem spending Rs. 365 crores will also be undertaken", the chief minister added.
