Pragya Singh Thakur sets campaign tone, shares tales of police torture
Bhopal: BJP’s nominee for Bhopal Pragya Singh Thakur on Thursday set the narrative for her election campaign by detailing inhuman torture she had allegedly been subjected to when she was in police custody following her arrest a decade ago in connection with the 2008 Malegaon blast incident in which six people were killed and 101 others injured.
The self-proclaimed god woman broke down while narrating her tortures in police custody, which she claimed went on for whole night sometimes, before reporters here.
“I was beaten with a heavy and thick belt without a break till I lost my consciousness. There were breaks in assaults on me only when police got tired.
They used to beat me with the belt and ‘lathi’ for hours together without even asking me a single question. Every assault used to send shivers down my spine and I used to feel as if every nerve in body got ruptured”, she narrated trying unsuccessfully to hold her tears and hide her emotions.
She claimed she suffered fractures in her waist because of beatings and suffered cancer, for which she has been undergoing treatment in a hospital here, perhaps due to frequent polygraph and narcotic tests on her by police.
