Khammam: Revenue wing sustainable – Staffers
Khammam: A roundtable meeting of all government employees associations was held to] discuss the government's proposal to cancel the revenue department. The members asked the government not to take hasty decision on the issue. The Revenue department was set up hundreds of years ago and has been functioning with timely changes over the years.
TNGO Union state president E. Srinivasa Rao said that the Chief Minister was trying to divert attention from the issues faced by the people by labelling the revenue department as ‘corrupt department’.
Teachers union leader Shouqat Ali, revenue employees association district president T. Sunil Kumar Reddy and Telangana Employees Association N. Sankar were among those who attended the meeting.
VRO Association state president G. Upender said that the government should reconsider its proposal and strengthen the department by filling up various posts. “Revenue department is an important wing in governance. Personnel in the department have been working for 18 hours a day to solve various land issues. The government should allocate 35,000 posts to the department for its smooth functioning,” he said.
Democracy should not be made to look ridiculous by taking such decisions, he added.
