Hyderabad: Hair found in Aurobindo drug

Hyderabad: A strand of hair in a vial of Lidocaine injection manufactured by the city-based Aurobindo Pharma has led to the recall of 88,600 vials from the USA.
The US Food and Drug Administration on its website has stated that injections of 5 ml and 10 mg/ml were manufactured in India. Lidocaine injections are used for local or regional anaesthesia to perform surgeries and procedures.
The products have distributors in Mexico, Asheboro, Charlottee, North Carolina and Santa Teresa according to the FDA notification.
After the recent recall of Valsartan tablets which are used for high blood pressure, the company is again facing a problem with its injection vials.
Company officials in Hyderabad refused to comment on the subject.
