91-year-old freedom fighter won’t miss his tryst with the ballot box!

Bengaluru: A lot of us can talk about democracy and our rights but when it comes to the practical utility there aren't as many of us who take the simple right to vote as seriously and significantly. While some may find excuses of avoiding it, a senior citizen from the city had every reason to vote despite his health condition, leading by example. Mr. Ananthacharya Agnihothri, a 91-year-old freedom fighter who is currently admitted at Sagar Hospitals, Jayanagar, Bengaluru has casted his vote for the Lok-Sabha Elections at Balavikas International School, Nagarbhavi on Thursday.

He is under the care of Dr. Sanjeev Hiremath, Sr. Consultant Nephrologist at Sagar Hospitals for chronic kidney disease. Born in 1928, he had cast his first vote in 1952 at the age of 24 years & since then, he is casting his vote regularly & has never missed the opportunity to vote till date. Currently with his difficult health condition too, his willingness to select the leader for the country is no less than a motivation, reminding a million youngsters about their duty.

Polling station officers helped out by providing direct entry to the patient to vote, bypassing the queue. Mr. Agnihothri desire to not miss voting and is truly inspiring for many youngsters as well as fellow senior citizens a motivation for every Indian citizen to exercise their rights to cast vote and participate in the country's progress.
