State should respect High Court's judgement: Ponnam Prabhakar

Mr Prabhakar said that these figures showed just how efficiently the state government had achieved progress in the housing department.

Hyderabad: With the High Court rejecting the Telangana government’s expulsion orders of two Congress MLAs Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and S.A. Sampath Kumar, the Congress is in a mood to celebrate.

While the TRS is quite upset about the High Court’s orders to restore the MLAs’ legislator po-sts with immediate effect, former Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar has said that the TRS government should gracefully welcome the High Court's judgment on expelled congress MLAs and respect it. Otherwise, the TRS government would give further cause for levity amongst the public.

The two MLAs were expelled due to their unruly behaviour in the Assembly that also caused physical injury to the Speaker. But with their expulsion orders being revoked by the High Court, the Congress is using this opportunity to turn the screws on the ruling TRS government.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Mr Prabhakar said Chief Minister Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao had made attractive promises to the people on the construction of double-bedroom houses for them. He said the Congress had collected the latest data on construction of double-bedroom houses in the state exercising the Right to Information Act.

He said up to May 31, 2017, the state government had sanctioned 2.63 lakh double-bedroom houses but had constructed only 1,708 houses so far.

He added that up to February 28, 2018, the state government had sanctioned 6,000 more houses but constructed only 1,979 houses.

Mr Prabhakar said that these figures showed just how efficiently the state government had achieved progress in the housing department.

Mr Prabhakar sharply criticised the state government and said that it may not have had the time to construct the double-bedroom houses for the people, but the CM had the time to construct the Pragathi Bhavan in 9 acres!

Mr Prabhakar also said that the TRS government was showcasing the Kaleswaram project as their own, but people seem to have forgotten about who had cracked the deals of the Mid Maneru and Lower Maneru projects.

He said those projects were constructed by the Congress government but the TRS government was happily and unjustly staking claim over them.
