Fera violation case: Proceedings against TTV Dhinakaran stayed
Chennai: The Madras high court has stayed all further proceedings in a Fera violation case relating to allegedly routing 36000 US dollars for starting a star hotel in the UK, against AMMK leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran, pending before the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Economic Offences-II, Egmore. Justice RMT Teeka Raman granted the interim stay on a petition filed by T.T.V. Dinakaran.
The Enforcement Directorate filed two Fera violation cases against T.T.V. Dhinakaran. One pertaining to an alleged transfer of 1.04 crore US dollars to Dipper Investment through Barclay Bank, Virgin Islands and another relating to allegedly routing 36000 US dollars and one lakh pounds for starting a state hotel in the UK. He proposed to start a state hotel “Hopcroft Holt “ in the UK.
Originally, on a petition filed by Dhinakaran, the Madras High Court had on October 11, 2011, granted liberty to him to file an application before the trial court to try both cases together and if such petition was filed, the magistrate shall pass appropriate orders. Accordingly, Dhinakaran filed a petition before the trial court. But the ACMM dismissed the petition. Aggrieved, he filed the present petition.
It may be recalled that the Madras high court had on March 22, 2018, stayed the proceedings in the Fera violation case relating to the alleged transfer of 1.04 crore US dollars to Dipper Investment through Barclay bank, Virgin Islands.
