Chennai: Former CS does U-turn on his statement to CM Jayalalithaa probe panel

I was tensed and did not notice who were present at the hospital during that point of time.

Chennai: Former chief secretary P. Rama Mohana Roa who created an uproar stating that the decision to treat former CM Jayalalithaa abroad was dropped as a group of ministers did not revert to him made a U-turn on Wednesday. Mr Rao who came to appear before the justice Arumughaswamy commission told reporters that there were no ministers in Apollo Hospital when Jayalalithaa suffered cardiac arrest.

“My schedule was tight and I reached the hospital only after 6 pm. I was tensed and did not notice who were present at the hospital during that point of time.” He also denied the media reports stating that the ministers were there during the time of cardiac arrest and said he has clarified the same with the commission in form of a statement.

Interestingly the controversial officer’s twist comes two days after Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and senior minister Jayakumar accused the former chief secretary of providing incorrect information on late chief minister J. Jayalalithaa’s demise.
