Chennai: The principal special court for CBI cases, Chennai, has dismissed the bail plea of principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ashok Nagar, who was arrested last week after accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from a person for admitting his son in class I under the RTE quota for SC candidate.
On a complaint from the father of the student, the CBI had registered a case against E. Anandan, principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Ashok Nagar, under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs1 lakh from him for admitting his son in class 1 under the RTE quota for SC candidate. Following this, CBI laid a trap and caught him red-handed soon after accepting the bribe.
Later, the personnel seized incriminating documents and three-locker key from his residence at Ashok Nagar. He was remanded at Puzhal prison up to April 24.
Meanwhile, Anandan approached the principal special court for CBI cases seeking bail. In the petition, he stated that he was innocent and CBI registered a false case. When the matter came up for hearing before the court on Wednesday, judge Thiruneelaprasad dismissed the bail plea.
