7th cyber police station opened in Bengaluru

This is the seventh cyber crime police station in the state and will cater to five districts.

Bengaluru: Home Minister G. Parameshwar inaugurated the Cyber Crime police station (CCPS) in the Central Range IGP's office on Mission Road in the city. This is the seventh cyber crime police station in the state and will cater to five districts.

People from Bengaluru Rural district, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Ramanagar, Kolar districts and KGF police district can register any cyber crime case in the newly established police station. They can also file complaints related to cyber crime at local police stations and the case will be transferred to the CCPS, where technically trained police staff from CID are deputed.

Mr Parameshwar, who also held a meeting with the SPs of the six districts before inaugurating the CCPS, said that he has asked senior officials to work towards preventing crimes. "Investigating crime incidents after they occur is inevitable, but our focus is on preventing them. The state government has given all necessary support. As far as cyber crimes are concerned, cyber criminals are getting advanced by the day and even our policemen are updating themselves according to the requirement," he said.

Asked about the Supreme Court summoning home secretaries of six states, including Karnataka, over vacancy in police force, he said that he was not aware how the apex court was given wrong statistics. “The total strength of the state police force is 1.07 lakh and as on today, there are only 8,000 vacancies, for which we are already preparing to issue notification to recruit men. After our government came in 2013, 21,000 policemen have been recruited. We will submit a status report on the number of staff to the Supreme Court," he said.

‘Action if someone tipped off Naga’

On reports that the local police alerted former corporator and rowdy Bomb Naga alias Nagaraj about the police raid and helped him escape, Home Minister G. Parmeshwar said that if anything like that is proved, the department will initiate strict action against the errant staff.
