New crime data system for cops

Hyderabad: Chief Secretary Dr Rajeev Sharma said that it takes advanced technology and the human element to sensitise policing in the state and make it citizen friendly. He was inaugurating the new Command and Control Centre and the Criminal Data Analysis and Management System (CDAMS) at the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, on Monday.

Dr Rajeev Sharma said that from old city to the making of Cyberabad, the city has witnessed a lot of change and technology has made a big difference in all aspects. With around 200 IT companies and major establishments in the area, it is a priority of Cyberabad Police to ensure safety to the IT Industry, its employees and all citizens.

Cyberabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand said that it is difficult to monitor the area spread across 3,700 square kilometres, despite having CCTV cameras. But with the new Command and Control Centre operational, it becomes easy to monitor every camera. “The live camera feed from the center can be monitored by field staff on mobile app also,” Mr Anand said.

The commissioner said the Cyberabad Security Council has developed a five pronged strategy for ensuring the safety of women in the IT indutry corridor. We aim to install 50,000 CCTV cameras across the Commissionerate by 2019 to make the area more secure and free of crime," he said.

150 ccTV cams to keep an eye on IT corridor:

The IT corridor spread across 50 sq.km will be monitored by 150 new CCTV cameras. The project was partnered by TSIIC and Cyberabad Security Council and uses solar energy for functioning and backup of data. Telangana Chief Secretary Dr Rajeev Sharma inaugurated the 150 CCTV project on Monday. Of the 150 cameras, 85 were procured with assistance from the Telangana State Industrial Infrastruc-ture Corporation with Rs 5.5 crore budget and Cyberabad Security Council partnered to install 65 cameras at a cost of Rs 2.9 crore. The cameras cover the entire IT corridor stretching from Raidurgam to HCU depot and from the financial district to Hafeezpet.

Mr C.V. Anand said that 10,000 cameras will be installed across Hyderabad and Cyberabad in 55:45 ratio in coming days. “2,000 community CCTV projects worth '10 crore is already confirmed and by the end of 2016, 10,000 cameras will be installed across Cyberabad,” the commissioner said. He added that every day around three cases are being solved using CCTVs and the crime rate has come down by 34 per cent compared with the past. 34 percent down from what figure??

"High definition cameras with night vision facility are being used in this project and this network is capable of holding 30 day back up from all the cameras and it functions on solar energy,? the Commissioner said.
