Glitches halt E-auction of Uppal plots

The HMDA had cancelled its e-auction in September last year citing problems with the software, which affected 70 registered bidders.

Hyderabad: For a second time, the e-auction of plots in the Uppal Bhagat layout is facing technical glitches. Those intending to bid for the plots during the auction scheduled for April 7 and 8 said they were unable to open the registration website.

The HMDA will e-auction 72 acres of land in a new venture at Uppal Bhagat. It expects to earn Rs 1,100 crore by selling 83 2,000-square metre plots in the new layout, and 1.16 lakh square yards in the left-over plots in the old layout.

The HMDA had cancelled its e-auction in September last year citing problems with the software, which affected 70 registered bidders. Its auction in April last year was successful.

HMDA sources said intending bidders had begun complaining right from the day the process opened on March 9 that they could not find the registration website, and were finding it difficult to complete the registration and payment process.

These complaints were ignored.

Asked about the problems, a senior HMDA official said the e-registration website would support Internet Explorer Version 7 and above.

He said a snag has been noticed with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and said upgraded versions of the browsers would support the e-auction websites.

The HMDA has fixed the upset price at Rs 28,000 per square yard.
