CBI books Union Bank of India staff
Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked a case against the currency chest incharge of the Union Bank of India (UBI) at Karimnagar and five others for allegedly misappropriating Rs 12 crore.
The six accused have been booked for criminal conspiracy, usage of forged documents, falsifying of accounts and criminal misappropriation.
The CBI said a complaint was lodged against currency chest incharge A.M. Suresh and armed guard M. Sampath Rao and four others of UBI Karimnagar.
It is alleged that during financial year 2018-19, Mr Suresh, Mr Sampath Rao and two private outsourcing employees handed over Rs 12 crore of bank cash to unidentified persons.
They created false entries in the bank records regarding the money.
The CBI has booked a case against six accused under Section 120-B (punishment for criminal conspiracy) read with 420 (cheating), 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (fraudulent cancellation of valuable security) and 477 (A) (falsification of accounts) IPC and Section 13 (2) (punishment for criminal misconduct) read with 13 (1) (misappropriation) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act 2018.
