Hyderabad: Eatery fined Rs 10,000 for MRP violation
Hyderabad: The popular Shah Ghouse restaurant at Tolic-howki has been slapped with a fine of Rs 10,000 by the legal metrology department for charging an additional Rs 5 over the MRP of a water bottle and another Rs 5 extra on the retail price of a cool drink. A complaint against the restaurant was filed by city-based activist Vijay Gopal who alleged that the business had billed him over the MRP.
The legal metrology department followed up on his complaint and penalised Shah Ghouse following an investigation. “I was at the resta-urant while returning from work and noticed that the hotel had charged me extra on the bill. When I asked about the above-MRP charges, I was told by the bosses that the charges were regular,” Mr Gopal told DC. “I immediately took photos of the bill as evidence and lodged a complaint with the legal metrology departm
ent,” the activist added.
