RK Roja not allowed into AP Assembly

MLAs went to Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the Governor's office stating that the Speaker had willfully disobeyed orders of HC.

Hyderabad: High drama prevailed at the AP Assembly premises on Friday morning when YSR Congress MLA R.K. Roja was prevented by marshals from entering, despite the High Court staying her one-year suspension from the Assembly.

Ms Roja, accompanied by her advocate, waving copies of the court order, entered into an argument with the marshals asking how could they prevent her from attending the Assembly session and under whose orders were they doing so. The marshals replied that they were following the Speaker’s orders.

Meanwhile Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy arrived at the scene. But he too got the same response from the marshals regarding not letting Ms Roja in.

Following this, angry YSRC legislators along with Mr Reddy staged a dharna at the Gandhi statue inside the Assembly for a while before sitting outside the Assembly buildings raising slogans against the Speaker and others.

Later, the MLAs went to Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to the Governor's office stating that the Speaker had willfully disobeyed orders of the High Court. They said this was anti-democratic and anti-judiciary.
