NAAC visit begins at Kannur University
KOZHIKODE: Calicut University will conduct a mock NAAC visit on March 29 and 30 in order to assess the preparations for the actual visit. The mock visit will help the University to identify the drawbacks and also to better prepare for the visit, which is expected to happen in June.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Calicut University Vice Chancellor Dr K. Mohammed Basheer said that the mock visit team members were from other universities who already had experience as the NAAC peer team. “This will help us positively by finding the problem areas and addressing it accordingly,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) team started their visit at Kannur University. This is the first time in their 20 years history, Kannur is witnessing a NAAC visit. The 10-member team led by Dr Bharat B. Chattoo of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara conducted meetings with the VC, other statutory officers and representatives of the Syndicate. The Statutory officers made presentations before the NAAC Peer team.
From Saturday, the team will visit the Mangattuparamba, Payyannur, Nileshwaram, Mananthavady and Kasargod Campuses. The HODs will make presentations on the achievements of their departments.
The team will examine the documents related to academic activities, Extension Projects, Extension social work etc undertaken by the departments and also conduct interactions with teachers, non-teaching staff, selected students, parents and alumni.
