Kerala High Court notice to CBSE on Class XII maths paper

Each and every question was tricky and of very high standard than the prescribed textbook.

Kochi: Kerala High Court on Friday asked the CBSE to file a statement on a plea challenging the question paper prepared for Class XII in the ongoing board exams.

Petitioner Akheela Junaid, Class XII student of I.E.S. Public School, Thrissur, who moved the court through A. V. Haridas, argued that she was affected by the defect in the question paper prepared by the CBSE for the public examination.

According to her, the pattern of question asked was different from that given to the students and model questions. Since they were given a fixed question pattern regarding chapters, they were mentally prepared for that and the sudden change affected their performance.

The question papers were not set according to the allotted mark scheme, she contended. She further argued that the CBSE without following the NCERT textbook relied on other books of private publishers. Each and every question was tricky and of very high standard than the prescribed textbook.

Students were not able to answer the same within the allotted time of three hours, she said. The petitioner argued that many students wanted to pursue engineering and other professional courses and so the marks would affect their chances to qualify for the same, she said.
