Guntur: Purchases on agreement papers to avoid legal hurdles

TD lobbyists got success in pressuring the government for announcing LPS package to assigned land purchasers.

Guntur: There are allegations against Telugu Desam leaders about purchasing assigned lands and they started lobbying about package to purchasers.

According to the sources, TD lobbyists got success in pressuring the government for announcing LPS package to assigned land purchasers.

The CRDA is offering 500 yards of residential plot and 50 yards of commercial plot per acre to the purchaser of assigned land under LPS package. According to the law, assigned lands cannot be sold or transferred as those lands were given by the government for livelihood and according to the norms, the government can take back the assigned lands if required for public purposes.

The state government issued GO: 41 amending the Assigned Act to pool assigned lands for new capital Amaravati establishment under LPS by the CRDA.

A senior TD leader, on the condition of anonymity, said that majority of the TD leaders have purchased assigned lands through agreements. He said that the assigned purchasing would come to light if the agreement papers are registered so the purchasers, mainly TD cadres, did not register the agreement papers.

He said that one acre of patta land costs Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1.50 crore according to the area but assigned land can be purchased for Rs 20 lakh and offering the land to CRDA under LPS, the purchasers will get patta land under package. So, the influential persons purchased assigned lands.
