Circulars on Registration Act quashed

It is against the interest of public projects, says HC.

Bengaluru: The high court on Friday quashed the circulars of the state government issued under the Section 22 of the Registration (Karnataka Amendment) Act 1976. The two circulars were issued under Section 22 A of the Registration Act of 1908 (later amended in 1976) by the Revenue Department, and the petitioner said they were done without the authority of the law. The court passed the order while observing that the central government act and State act create confusion and moreover the amended section was against the interest of public projects in the state.

Abortion plea:

The Karnataka High Court on Friday sought to know from the doctors of the KC General Hospital after medically examining a 15-year-old girl, who is 25 weeks pregnant, whether she can undergo abortion. The court has directed the KC General Hospital that a team of two specialists should examine the girl on March 21 at 11 am and report to the court by March 24.

The parents of the minor girl had approached the high court stating that their daughter was pregnant and when they approached KC General Hospital for abortion, the doctors refused. They prayed the court that their daughter is just 15 year old and delivering the baby could mean risking her life and sought permission from the court to direct the concerned doctors to abort their daughter.
