Numaish records 20 lakh visitors

He said the government will get also Rs 9 crore to Rs 10 crore in the form of taxes, user charges, etc.

Hyderabad: The All India Industrial Exhibition, popularly known as Numaish, was abuzz with crowds thronging in large numbers for last-minute shopping, on the last day on Tuesday.

More than 60,000 visitors went to Numaish on the last day. This year, about 20 lakh have visited the expo. Last year, only 18 lakh shoppers visited the Numaish, which also witnessed a large blaze. The last year’s fire accident which gutted dozens of shops continues to cast its shadow on revenue as well as footfall. In 2018, approximately 23 lakhs shoppers visited the Numaish.

Honorary secretary, Exhibition Society, Dr B. Prabha Shankar said the total turnover of this year’s business reached approximately Rs 40 crores and the society will see a profit of Rs 10 crore to Rs 12 crores. The profit will be utilised on the 18 educational institutions run by the society and other welfare programmes.

He said the government will get also Rs 9 crore to Rs 10 crore in the form of taxes, user charges, etc.

He said, “We spent Rs 5 crore this year on providing security and safety arrangements.”

The merchants were not happy with the tepid business this year.
