SIT not meant to fix anyone, says H D Kumaraswamy

HDK also confident efforts to topple his govt have come to a halt.

Hassan: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy seemed confident on Monday that efforts to destabilise his government had come to a halt, at last.

Speaking to reporters here , he also maintained that the decision to have a Special Investigation Team (SIT) look into audiogate was not intended to fix or silence anyone. The Chief Minister was responding to a question on the audio tape that allegedly blows the lid off an attempt by the BJP to poach a JD(S) legislator.

The release of the tape by the Chief Minister on Budget day seems to have called a halt to weeks of uncertainty dogging the coalition government as the ruling parties' legislators kept it in suspense about their intentions.

Asked about the seat sharing arrangement between the JD(S) and Congress for the coming Lok Sabha poll, Mr Kumaraswamy said the matter would be decided by party supremo, H D. Deve Gowda and Congress president, Rahul Gandhi. " I have not discussed the seat sharing with any of the leaders as I am happy concentrating on the development of the state," he added.

Reacting to Congress leader , A. Manju's statement that he would not support the candidature of Mr Prajwal, son of Minister for Public Works, H.D. Revanna, for the Hassan constituency in the coming Lok Sabha poll, Mr Kumaraswamy said "Mustering support is not the issue here. His fate will be decided by the voters. Prajwal will contest from Hassan based on the opinion of party leaders."

On Pakistan sponsored terrorism in the country, the CM recalled that when his father, Deve Gowda was PM there were no incidents of violence and its relationship with neighbouring countries was cordial.

"Why has this disappeared now?" Mr Kumaraswamy asked, maintaining that this was worth thinking about.
