Bengaluru: The Kengeri police arrested a man for murdering his sister-in-law by strangling her to death at her residence over a property row on Saturday.

The accused, Vivek Prakash, a resident of Kengeri, was married to the sister of the deceased, Netravathi, a year ago. The deceased, Saishree Anu, wife of Sanat, was working as a system operator with BHEL.

Anu owned a piece of land in Bidadi which she was planning to sell for Rs 13 lakh. But Prakash was forcing her to sell it to him for Rs 8 lakh and she had refused to sell it to him. Prakash had fought with her after learning that she had contacted a few realtors to sell the land.
