Hyderabad: Certain areas of Balapur mandal under Jalpally muncipality like Shaheennagar, Sadathnagar, Toor Colony, Alinagar, Minar Colony and Quba Colony are facing acute water scarcity.
Shaheennagar resident Kareem Ansari said the foundation stone for the construction of a water tank in Bismillah Colony was laid in 2017 but the work had not been completed.
Residents of the locality had represented the matter to MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi who had written to the Water Board.
Mr Naser Ali of Sadathnagar complained that borewells were not working as the groundwater level had fallen. “Residents are purchasing water for drinking,” he said.
Mr Majid Nawaz told this newspaper most residents were finding it difficult to purchase water. A madarsa had closed due to the shortage of water.
