Thiruvananthapuram: The state capital is all geared up to host this years’ Attukal Pongala Festival slated to be held on Wednesday. Festive mood is on and devotees have started claiming their slots for offering pongala along the busy stretches. All roads leading to the temple has been lighted up setting the festive ambiance for the devotees.
Lakhs of women devotees are expected to offer pongala this year. In order to curb single-use disposables, the city corporation has enforced green-protocol like the previous years. Mayor V.K. Prasanth said that strict action will be taken against people violating the green protocol.
He said that the renovation work at all 31 wards coming under the festival zone has been completed. “Streetlight maintenance has been completed. In order to ensure clean drinking water, the civic body has arranged 7 tanker lorries. Drinking water has been made available at 28 busy points in the festival zone,” said Mr Mayor. He said that all arrangements are in place to clean up the city post –pongala.
