Baburao Chinchansur: Mallikarjun Kharge did Qamarul in

Chinchansur on Monday alleged that Mr Kharge was indirectly responsible for the death of senior Congress leader Qamarul Islam.

KaLaburagi: Stepping up his tirade against senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge, former minister Baburao Chinchansur on Monday alleged that Mr Kharge was indirectly responsible for the death of senior Congress leader Qamarul Islam, who died in June 2018.

"Mr Islam, who was a prominent minority leader, was so disappointed after his removal from the Siddaramaiah Cabinet that he died of anguish. It's Mr Kharge who was responsible for his death. If Mr Kharge had not removed him and me from the Cabinet, he would not have died. Mr Kharge, who was eager to make his son a minister, destroyed the career of many eminent leaders including Mr Islam, Mr Guttedar and my own", Mr Chinchansur alleged.

Claiming that he was a prominent Kabbaliga leader having won five Assembly elections, Mr Chinchansur alleged that Mr Kharge has given a major blow to the Kabbaliga community in the district as well as neighbouring Yadagir district first by getting him removed from the Cabinet and subsequently defeating in the Assembly election. "I want to know the contributions of Mr Kharge, who has all along won elections with the backing of Kabbaliga voters, to the community? He never uttered a single word in the Assembly or Lok Sabha about giving ST status to Kabbaligas. The Kabbaliga community, which has a big strength of 4.25 lakh voters in the constituency will teach Mr Kharge a big lesson in this election", Mr Chinchansur asserted.
