Petition in Kerala High Court to stop Kochouseph's hunger stir

The petitioner sought a directive to the government and District Collector, Thiruvananthapuram.

Kochi: A petition has been filed before Kerala High Court seeking to stop the proposed hunger strike organised by industrialist Kochouseph Chittilappilly against stray dog menace in Thiruvananthapuram on February 20.

Ms Reena Richard, secretary of the Satjeev Karuna Parivar Trust, moved the court arguing that the hunger strike would give a wrong message to the public.

She also submitted that the strike would create an impression among the general public that stray dogs have to be wiped out from the streets and not even
a single stray dog should remain in the streets of Kerala.

She said that this type of propaganda would instigate the public to kill the stray dogs in inhuman ways.

Chittilappilly had painted himself as the champion of human cause and was attempting to flout the directive of the High Court, she said.

The petitioner sought a directive to the government and District Collector, Thiruvananthapuram, to take immediate action to stop the hunger strike at L.M.S. Ground.
