Online method to speed up PU results

With the new process the time taken to complete the paper work will be much less, according to DPUE officials.

Bengaluru: With the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) deciding to use online methods from each district centre to upload marks online, this year's II PU results are expected to be announced earlier.

With the new process the time taken to complete the paper work will be much less, according to DPUE officials.

Clarifying the same, a top official from the department said that final procedures are currently in place to conceptualize the system in an error-free manner.

"Till date evaluators used to manually write down marks against the respective registration numbers of the candidates in designated sheets of paper. These papers were sent to headquarters from different parts of the state and this process used to take time. The new system will ensure that each evaluator enters the marks online (mostly around 45 papers per day) which would then be sent to the centre chief for validation," the official said.

The validation process is to ensure an error-free process. The chief at each centre will look into the scores and if any mismatch is found it will be sent back to the evaluator concerned.

When asked about the security of the system, the official added that the data will be stored in an encrypted manner and will be password protected.

The second PU exams are scheduled to be held from March 1 to 18 this year. At present, the DPUE is carrying out works to ensure that evaluation centres are equipped with adequate infrastructure to fill in needs to ensure at least 20 computer systems are available in each centre.

The process, however, was tested successfully during the SSLC supplementary exams held in June and July last year.
