Kodanad case: Plea to cancel bail to 2 accused

They in a recent video interview on the case reportedly linked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami with the incident.

Ooty: As the 2017 Kodanad estate break-in and murder case had become sensational again in the recent weeks, the reasons for which are well-known to all, an application has been filed on Friday at the Sessions court here for cancellation of the bail granted for the two accused Sayan and Manoj. They in a recent video interview on the case reportedly linked Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami with the incident.

Mr. Bala Nandakumar, public prosecutor in Nilgiris, filed the application in the court stating that the recent interview of Sayan and ‘valayar’ Manoj to a journalist, in the documentary on Kodanad break-in case that was released in New Delhi, was a type that sends a threatening signal to 97 witnesses in this case.

If the duo are allowed to be on bail, they may try to tamper with the evidences or even may try to threaten the witnesses, he charged. Moreover, there are chances that witnesses in this case may try to avoid coming to court fearing that this duo may cause harm to them in some other way. So, it is necessary that at this point of time to cancel the bail provided to Sayan and Manoj, both of whom are accused in the Kodanad estate break-in case, and to remand them in custody till the hearings in the break in and murder case was over, he stated in the application.
