Chennai: In order to identify and remove the logical errors and demographically similar entries, the final electoral rolls must be published in all the Assembly Constituencies of Tamil Nadu on January 31, said the Chief Electoral Officer.
The drafts rolls were published on September 1, 2018, and the claims of objections were received from them on till October 1, 2018. In order to prepare error-free electoral rolls, two meetings of booth level officers and booth level agents of the recognised political parties were conducted so as to exchange the inputs/feedback regarding inclusions and deletions. As per the extended schedule, the Election Commission of India had prescribed that the final rolls should be published on January 21, 2019. As these activities require some more time, the Election Commission of India has permitted to publish the final electoral rolls on January 31.
