Bengaluru: 65-year-old woman dies as wall collapses on her hut
Bengaluru: A 65-year-old woman died on spot and four people were injured after a compound wall collapsed on their shed on Thursday night in T.C. Palya in K.R. Puram police station limits.
The deceased has been identified as Maramma, a daily wage worker hailing from Andhra Pradesh. The police said that she along with her daughter Lakshmi and her husband Suresh had come to the city few years ago and had been living in a shed in T.C. Palya. Both Lakshmi and Suresh sustained injuries and are said to be out of danger.
The other two injured have been identified as Shanthamma, 55, and her daughter, Mari, 22. They were living in a shed next to Maramma’s shed. They too hailed from Andhra Pradesh and were working as daily wage workers.
According to the police, the two sheds were situated in T.C. Palya next to a compound wall, which was built 20 years ago. The wall was built next to a storm water drain to keep children away.
On Thursday night at 11:50 pm, the wall collapsed and fell on the two sheds. Maramma who was sleeping close to the wall died on spot, while the others sustained injuries. The police said the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital and two of them are have been admitted, but are said to be out of danger. K.R. Puram police have registered a case.
