SIT to submit report on land scam by January 26

The TD government had appointed the SIT in June, 2017 by appointing DIG (Greyhounds) Vineet Brijlal as the head to inquire about the scam.

Visakhapatnam: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the tampering of documents relating to government lands in Vizag city and rural areas nearby completed inquiry and is likely to submit the final and comprehensive report to the government by January 26.

However, leaders of the Opposition parties already expressed doubts about the genuineness and credibility of the SIT inquiry and report, citing that the team had protected the TD leaders involved in the land scam.

The TD government had appointed the SIT in June, 2017 by appointing DIG (Greyhounds) Vineet Brijlal as the head to inquire about the scam.
After receiving two extensions, the SIT inquired into 337 cases and also verified over 23 No Objection Certificate (NOC) lands that were given to ex-servicemen.

A senior officer with SIT, on condition of anonymity, said that eight teams conducted field surveys and all of them submitted their final reports. "If we club the reports of all the teams of SIT, the comprehensive report will be over 400-500 pages,” he added.

P. Murthy Yadav of YSRC and B. Gangaram of CPM said that they had lost faith in the SIT inquiry as all the big sharks in the land scam swam to safety while only the small fish were netted.

“Though there is no more curiosity to see the SIT report, we are still demanding that the government make the report public as people would know at least few of the culprits behind the scam worth crores of rupees.”
