Kerala to move High Court against stay in Sreejeev case

The HC had allowed the stay on a petition of the officers challenging the SPCA order seeking action against three officers found guilty.

Kochi: The state government has finally decided to approach the high court to vacate its stay on state Police Complaints Authority's order against cops for the 2014 custodial death of Sreejeev. The government has decided to approach the HC on Thursday, marking the 669th day of the strike by his elder brother Sreejith demanding a CBI probe and punishing the guilty.

The HC had allowed the stay on a petition of the officers challenging the SPCA order seeking action against three officers found guilty. The government decided to approach the HC to vacate the stay following widespread support to Mr Sreejith's sit-in before the secretariat. Although chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan assured steps needed to vacate the stay, Mr Sreejith said he would continue the protest until the CBI takes over the investigation.
