Class I student dies after gate falls on him in Miyapur
Hyderabad: A Class I student died when the gate fixed to a compound wall fell on him while he was playing on Thursday.
The incident occurred outside the premises of the government primary school at Miyapur, where the victim, K. Sandeep Goud, 6, was studying.
Police said Sandeep and two other boys wandered out of school after lunch and went to the open plot nearby where they began playing on the gate fixed to the compound wall. After a few minutes, the gate got uprooted and fell on them.
Hearing their cries for help, teachers rushed to the spot and shifted the boys to a nearby private hospital, where Sandeep was declared brought dead, while another boy sustained bruises and is said to be out of danger.
Sandeep’s uncle Srikanth Goud said the students had left school due to the negligence of the officials.
“The school has a compound wall and a gate. If it was closed properly during the lunch break, the kids would not have gone out,” Mr Srikanth Goud said.
Sandeep’s father K. Ashok Goud works as a driver and his mother Anitha is a home-maker. The family hails from Mahbubnagar district and stays at New Colony basthi.
Based on a complaint from Mr Ashok Goud, police booked a case of suspicious death under CrPC Section 174 and shifted the body for autopsy. “Based on evidence, the investigation will proceed. If anybody is found to be responsible, they will be treated as per the law,” said an official of the Miyapur police.
