Notice to Vigilance on petition against Nalini Netto

Ms Netto had constituted a civil service board to replace the DGP despite any such sanction by the Supreme Court.

Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance special judge A. Badarudeen has directed the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) to file its response by January 27 on a petition alleging that Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Nalini Netto “manipulated government files” and submitted fake documents against DGP T.P. Senkumar.

The main allegation against Ms Netto, who is also the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, is that she submitted a fabricated report against Mr Senkumar to the Chief Minister, which led to his exit from the law and order post on May 30 last year.

In normal circumstances, such files would be routed through the Chief Secretary, but Ms Netto submitted them directly to the Chief Minister, alleged petitioner Satheesh Vasanth.

He also alleged that reports about investigation lapses in Jisha murder case and Puttingal fireworks tragedy were firmed up after Mr Senkumar’s removal as DGP (law and order). Also Ms Netto had constituted a civil service board to replace the DGP despite any such sanction by the Supreme Court.

Ms Netto had also failed to act on several directions by Chief Secretary S M Vijayanand to initiate disciplinary action against Vigilance director Jacob Thomas and she stood accused of nepotism and shielding guilty officers, the petitioner alleged.
