Apart from the cash prizes to the toppers, the state also takes care of their higher education expenses.

Chennai: Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam on Wednesday distributed certificates and cash prizes worth of Rs 12.75 lakh to state toppers in class 10 and 12 board exams last year.
The state government in a release said that in March 2016 exams 32 students have secured the first rank and 92 secured second rank and 456 students have secured the third rank in the board exams.
The official statement further said Panneerselvam while congratulating the top rankers urged them to excel in higher education and bring glory to the state. Apart from the cash prizes to the toppers, the state also takes care of their higher education expenses.
