Tughlaq move, ridicules, says N Chandrababu Naidu

Naidu wondered if any leader would establish the capital in three different cities.

Vijayawada: Opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu compared Chief Minister Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy with Mohammad bin Tughluq for the latter’s decision of having three capitals for the state of Andhra Pradesh. “One need not wonder if CM Jagan establishes offices (capitals) in every district in the coming days,” the former CM remarked.

“CM Jagan termed TD legislators as ‘buffoons’. But now, he has turned a ‘buffoon’ with his Tughluk decision of having three capital cities,” he commented.

Naidu wondered if any leader would establish the capital in three different cities. “The decision to establish three capitals is one-sided,” he maintained. “Where would Jagan sit as the Chief Minister? In Amaravati or Visakhapatnam or Kurnool,” he asked. He also wondered if Jagan Mohan Reddy would construct three separate houses in Amaravati, Kurnool and Visakhapatnam.

“What is the use of building another Secretariat at Visakhapatnam,” he asked pointing out that the YSRC had cancelled the establishment of data centres and LuLu convention hall in Visakhapatnam.

The former CM sought to predict that the state will face considerable of troubles with secretariat, legislature and High Court functioning from three different cities. “Jagan rule is like Pichivadi chethilo raayi (stone in the hand of a mad man) and we cannot expect what Jagan will do,” he remarked.

Naidu said, “Farmers had offered lands voluntarily to Amaravati for establishing the capital, but YSRC has alleged insider trading, which is totally false”. He protested that YSRC was linking persons who purchased lands in Amaravati with Telugu Desam, thereby spreading false news within the public.

“There is no need for TD leaders to purchase lands in Amaravati on benami names. If Telugu Desam leaders did illegal things in Amaravati, why did YSRC stand as a silent spectator without taking any action,” he asked.

The former CM said announcing of the decision on capital before submission of a committee’s report in the assembly in this regard is wrong. He also referred to allegations of YSRC leaders purchasing lands in Visakhapatnam.
