Hyderabad: A 39 year-old woman human resources executive and a mother of two kids who on her way to office at Jubilee Hills on a scooter was crushed to death by a private water tanker at Gudimalkapur on Tuesday morning. The victim was wearing a helmet but her head was crushed, said the police.

Ravanam Jhansi Rani, 39, a resident of Gudimalkapur, was working as a senior HR executive at Navayuga Engineering Company in Jubilee Hills.

At around 9 am when Jhansi was riding her scooter (TS13 EJ 4260), the water tanker (AP12 V 7541) rammed her bike from behind. Death was instant, said a police officer.

Passersby alerted the police who informed her family.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the victim's brother-in-law Ravanam Venkateshwara Rao said, “Jhansi is a mother of two school-going kids. After performing prayers, she left the home for office at around 8.45 am, and within no time, she was dead.”

Jhansi's husband R. Chanda Mohan works for a national newspaper in the city, he said.

When contacted, Asifnagar sub-inspector A. Uma said, “There is a lack of clarity on the accident. Some locals said that the bike skidded, she fell on the road and that is when the tanker ran over her. A few others said that the tanker rammed into her bike. She was wearing a helmet, but got crushed under the wheels.”

A case has been booked against the tanker driver for causing death due to the negligence and he has been taken into custody for the investigation. The body was handed over to the kin after the autopsy at Osmania General Hospital morgue, said the SI.
