Waqf board chief warns officials over audit report

Hyderabad: Telangana State Waqf Board chairman Mohd Saleem on Monday warned that the salaries of the inspectors and auditors would not be released if they failed to furnish updated figures of dues, collections and balances before the end of the month.

Mr Saleem reviewed the performance of the inspectors and auditors in a meeting held in his chamber and asked them to collect the rents and waqf funds promptly. He also instructed the officials to serve memos to all Mutawallies for submitting the audit report in accordance with the Waqf Act.

According to Section 46 of the Waqf Act, every Mutawalli shall keep regular accounts and under Section 47, accounts of the waqf institutions with net annual income exceeding Rs 50,000 have to be audited and the report must be submitted to the board.
